Artists and Performers

The City of Karratha acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work, the Ngarluma People, and recognises their continuing connection to country, waterways and community. We pay our respect to all Elders, past, present and emerging.

The City of Karratha with Principal Partner Rio Tinto is once again celebrating artistic creatives over four magical days in 2024. From Thursday 9 May to Sunday 12 May 2024 the City of Karratha will become a hub of artistic and cultural activity.

Step into a world where creativity thrives and imagination knows no bounds. Now in its 14th year, the Red Earth Arts Festival (REAF) is set to continue as a beacon of artistic brilliance in the Pilbara region.

This year's theme, 'mother country,' serves as the foundation for visionaries to embark on their creative journeys and celebrate their works. Over these four epic days, we will come together to celebrate the beauty of life, the resilience of our planet, and the nourishment that art provides to our souls.

REAF transforms ordinary spaces into captivating canvases, infusing them with the vibrancy of art in all its forms. Whether you're a performer, sculptor, dancer, musician, or any other form of creative soul, this is your moment to shine across our grand region, spanning from Karratha to Dampier and Roebourne, Wickham, Cossack, and Point Samson. Artists from every corner of this beautiful country are now invited to become part of our rich legacy.

REAF’s core purpose and dedication to community includes:

  • Improving wellbeing

  • Encouraging community engagement & social cohesion

  • Building capacity within local artists/art groups

  • Supporting the sustainability of local arts industries and creative economic development

With this work comes accountability and dedication to diversity, accessibility, and inclusivity of creative practices. The REAF team work alongside artists, producers and industry to create safer spaces, partnering with people who champion truth-telling and justice for all.

Expressions of Interest are open from 12 September 2023 and close at 5pm (AWST) 6 October 2023 for creators who wish to contribute their unique perspectives, talents, and passions to the vibrant tapestry of our festival.

REAF promises to uphold its tradition of inspiring and nurturing the creative spirit in all of us.

Apply now and be a part of something truly extraordinary.
